Anna's Hummingbird
Calypte anna

Hummingbird Sage, a perennial, blooms most profusely in late spring; its brilliant color and tubular flowers produce abundant nectar especially attractive to hummingbirds and butterflies. A real showstopper, its whorls of magenta flowers surround stems from one to three feet high. In the wild, they are often found in the dappled shade under oaks or in full sun. In the backyard garden it can be grown in dry shade or, if grown in full sun, occasional watering keeps it lush.
